Why Is It Called the Turn in Poker?

The Turn in poker refers to the point in the game where a player has the opportunity to either put all of their chips in the pot, or start playing a new hand. The turn usually occurs when there are eight or more chips in the middle of the table, and it’s generally considered to be one of the most important points in the game.

One of the main reasons why the turn is such an important point is because it’s when players have their best chance of winning a pot. If a player has been playing well and has managed to build up a large stack of chips, they’re going to want to try and make as many plays as possible on the turn.

This includes putting all of their chips into the pot, making a single bet, or even calling an early bet.

On the other hand, if a player is behind in the game and doesn’t have as many chips, they’re likely going to want to start playing new hands. This includes making small bets and trying to catch up to other players.

If a player manages to catch up and get into position where they can make a big bet on the turn, they’re likely going to be able to win the pot.
