In blackjack, there are three types of cards: face cards (A, 2, 3, 4), 10s (J,10,Q), and suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts). Each player is dealt two cards face up and one card face down.
The player then selects one card to be their “point” or “hit.” .
The next card is turned over and placed face down in front of the player. This new card is known as the “upcard.
” The dealer then drAWS two new cards from the deck and replaces the upcard with one of them. .
The game is now played clockwise around the table. If the point value of the player’s selected card equals or exceeds the dealer’s upcard (which is never Ace), then that player has hit and can receive whatever sum is on the table.
If not, then that player must draw another card to continue playing.
If an ace falls off of an existing deck during play (due to being drawn or lost), it will be replaced by a new ace at the beginning of a new hand.
If two players have equal point values at any given time, then the hand is drawn and replayed with different initial hands. In case of a tie, each player gets one more turn before the hand is replayed.
