Can an AI Play Poker?

There is no single answer to this question as the answer will depend on a number of factors specific to poker, such as the rules of the game and the specific AI strategy employed. However, some researchers have suggested that it may be possible for an artificial intelligence to win at poker using a variety of different strategies.

One study, published in 2015, looked at how well a computer program could compete against professional poker players. The program was able to win a significant percentage of games against professional players, albeit with a lower average score than the professionals.

Another study, published in 2016, used machine learning algorithms to develop a “deep learning” poker player that was able to defeat amateur human players at a rate of more than 60 percent. While these studies are limited in scope and do not necessarily prove that an AI can play poker successfully, they suggest that it is possible for an artificial intelligence to develop strategies that are effective at winning against human opponents.
