Does Counting Work in Blackjack?

When it comes to counting in blackjack, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some casinos count cards while others do not.

Some players believe that counting increases their chances of winning while others believe that it decreases their chances. Ultimately, the decision whether or not to count cards is a personal one that each player must make for themselves.

One argument in favor of counting is that it increases the chance of hitting a higher total number. If a player knows that the dealer has a high card count, they may be more likely to hit if they are trying to get as close to 21 as possible.

Conversely, if a player does not want to count, they may be less likely to hit if the dealer has a high card count.

There are also arguments against counting. One is that it can lead to players overplaying their hands.

If the player knows that the dealer has a high card count, they may be tempted to try and win every hand by playing more aggressively. On the other hand, if the player does not want to count, they may be less likely to realize when they are losing and end up playing too conservatively which can also lead to losing hands.
