Blackjack is a card game that is played with a standard 52-card deck. The object of the game is to score as many points as possible by making cards of the same value as the dealer’s card.
Blackjack is considered a betting game, and the player bets on whether or not he or she will be ahead after the hands are played.
The game starts with the dealer drawing two cards, followed by the player and then the banker. The player’s goal is to either get a hand that totals 21 or less, which is considered a “natural,” or to beat the dealer’s hand.
When playing blackjack, it’s important to remember that any hand that totals 22 or more (or any hand in which the player has an Ace plus another card equal to or greater than the dealer’s two cards) is automatically considered a “blackjack” and pays 1 point for each point above 21. If playing against another person, it’s also important to remember that if you have an Ace plus another card totaling 10, 11, or 12 (inclusive), then that hand is also considered blackjack and pays 2 points instead of 1.
