Russian roulette is a game of chance where a player takes turns spinning a cylinder containing six bullets, each with a different number. If the player finds a bullet that corresponds to the number they are betting on, they pull the trigger and hope it is not the “black” card – which means the bullet will hit one of the five “empty” slots in the cylinder, resulting in an undesired outcome.
According to legend, Russian roulette was invented by an officer in Napoleon’s army who was bored of playing cards. One night, while he and his comrades were gambling, he came up with the idea of playing with bullets instead.
He soon discovered that if you spin the cylinder quickly enough and don’t choose a black card, you had a good chance of winning. .
Although Russian roulette is often associated with casinos and gambling, it can also be found in video games and as part of traditional amusement park rides.
