Is Poker Legal in India?

According to the Indian Penal Code, gambling is illegal in India. This includes poker, which is considered a form of gambling. However, there is no specific law against poker in India. In fact, the Indian government has not made any statements about whether or not poker is legal or not. This leaves it up to individual states to decide whether or not poker is legal. As of now, it is not legal in all states in India.

In some states, such as Gujarat and Maharashtra, poker is illegal but still widely played. In other states, such as Rajasthan and Karnataka, it is legal but only allowed under certain circumstances. Poker remains illegal in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam. In addition, there are a number of unofficial bans on poker that are not mentioned in the Indian Penal Code. These bans are typically enforced by local police forces. Thus, it is difficult to say for sure whether or not poker is legal in all states in India.
