What Are D and Ds in Blackjack?

D and Ds are the two most common types of blackjack. In basic form, D blackjack is a hands-up game where the dealer hits on any hand and the player must hit on any hand with an Ace or higher.

Ds blackjack is a hands-down game where the dealer hits on any hand and the player must hit on any hand with an Ace or higher. There are a few variations of these games, but those are the basics.

One big difference between D blackjack and Ds blackjack is that in D blackjack, if the player gets aces up, they can choose to stand (let the dealer keep the bet) or take (put money into the pot) depending on whether they want more money in the pot or want to bust (win all of the money in the pot). In Ds blackjack, if the player gets aces up, they automatically hit.

This is because in this game, there is no point in calling aces unless you want to bust (which would give the dealer another card to beat).

One other big difference between D blackjack and Ds blackjack is that in D blackjack, if you get two cards of the same rank, you can split (take half of what’s in the pot) or double down (put money into the pot twice). In Ds blackjack, if you get two cards of the same rank, you automatically lose your original bet and get nothing back.
