What Are MTTs in Poker?

MTTs (multi-table tournaments) are poker variants where players compete in multiple rounds of tournament play against other players. The objective of each round is to accumulate the most chips, or “money”, by playing against other players.

MTTs are popular due to their variety of game play and the opportunities for large prize pools.

The chip leader at the end of a MTT receives a cash prize, while the second-place finisher receives half of the prize pool. Third through fifth place receive one-quarter, sixth through tenth place receive one-tenth, and eleventh through twentieth place receive nothing.

Some MTTs also offer “wildcard” spots that give players an opportunity to win a portion of the overall prize pool, even if they do not finish in the top twenty.

MTTs provide a unique opportunity for poker players to make some serious money. In fact, some top poker players routinely win millions of dollars in MTTs.

If you are interested in playing in MTTs, be sure to research which tournaments offer the best payouts and sign up early to avoid missing out on valuable competition.
