What Are the Card Combinations in Poker?

The combinations in poker are simply the different ways that you can place a card on the table. There are five main combinations: high card, two pair, three of a kind, full house, and four of a kind.

In addition, there are several other less common combinations, such as quads and trip kings.

The high card combination is the most common and consists of playing a high card (a Jack, Queen or King) against the other player’s hand. Two pair is when you have two cards of the same rank (e.g., two Jacks), three of a kind is three cards of the same rank (e.g., three Kings), full house is when you have two pairs and one card of another rank (e.g.

, two Queens and a Ace), and four of a kind is when you have four cards of the same rank (e.g., four Kings).

Other less common combinations include quads, which is when you have four cards of the same rank (e.g., four Queens), trip kings, which is when you have two cards of the same rank plus an Ace (e.g.

, two Aces), and trips, which is when you have three cards of the same rank (e.g., three 7s).
