What Is the Order of Cards in Poker?

An Illustrated Guide to the Order of Cards in Poker

When playing cards, there are typically two types: regular and joker. The regular cards are ranked from Ace to Ten, with a Jack, Queen, and King in each suit.

The joker is always considered to be the highest-ranking card, and can be used as any card in any position.

Below are the rankings of the other cards in poker:

Two through Five are called the “pip” cards. They are not normally played during normal play, but may be used as part of a hand’s showdown (see below).

Six through Ten are called the “face” cards. These are the most important cards in poker, and their ranking is based on their value as part of a hand’s potential winnings or losses.

Ace is worth one point, Two is worth two points, Three is worth three points, Four is worth four points, Five is worth five points, Six is worth six points, Seven is worth seven points, Eight is worth eight points, Nine is worth nine points, Ten is worth ten points.
