What Are the Odds of Losing 5 Blackjack Hands in a Row?

In the world of casino blackjack, players are dealt five cards apiece, with an Ace being worth one point and a Two through Ten being worth face value. In order to win at blackjack, a player must achieve a total score of 21 or more points.

If a player loses five consecutive hands, the odds are stacked heavily in their favor. For example, if a player starts with an Ace in their hand and is dealt two more Aces, they would be up 11 points.

If they then lose the next two hands, they would be down to 8 points and would only need to hit one more card (a Ten) to win the game. If they instead lose the next three hands, they would be out of the game and would have lost 13 points in a row – almost guaranteeing that they will lose the game.
