There are a few basic rules of 5 card poker:
1. The player to the dealer’s left starts the game.
2. Each player is dealt five cards face down.
3. The player must either place one card on the table, or else discard one card and take another from their hand.
4. If the player cannot or does not want to play any more, they must either say “pass” or “draw”.
5. If the player places a card on the table, they can then draw one from their hand and replace it on the table, or discard one card and take another from their hand.
6. Play proceeds clockwise around the table, with each player playing one card at a time until someone either places a bet (by putting money into the pot) or takes all of their cards (called “going out”).
7. The first player to go out loses the game, and any remaining players earn whatever money is in the pot.
8. If two or more players go out at the same time, then whoever had the most chips at that point is declared the winner.
