What Are the Rules of Three Card Poker?

There are a few basic rules of three card poker that every player should be aware of in order to have a fair game.

First and foremost, the object of the game is to get as close to 21 points as possible by playing cards that total equal or greater than the number on the face of your opponent’s card.

Second, two cards are drawn from the deck before any play begins, and these two cards determine how many rounds of betting will take place.

Third, after both players have placed their bets, each player flips over their top card and reveals it. If this card equals or is higher than the number on the bottom card of the other player, then that player has won the hand and collects all of their original bets.

If, however, the top card of your own deck is not equal to or higher than the number on the bottom card of your opponent’s deck, then a new round of betting begins with both players flipping over their second cards. The highest matching card wins that round of betting, and play proceeds as normal from there.

Finally, if at any point during a hand one player has no more cards remaining in their deck (either because they’ve been eliminated or because they’ve stopped flipping over cards), then that player is out of the game and must forfeit any remaining bet(s).
