What Happened to the World Series of Poker?

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the most prestigious poker tournament in the world. Held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada, it is a 10-week event that culminates with the Main Event, which takes place over two days. The WSOP has been running since 1970 and has had a number of famous champions, including Phil Hellmuth, Steve Wynn, and Daniel Negreanu. However, in recent years there have been concerns raised about the health and safety of the participants.

In particular, there have been reports of players being addicted to drugs and gambling addiction. In response to these concerns, the WSOP announced in 2018 that it was ending its sponsorship of live events and would instead focus on online tournaments. As a result of this decision, many top players left the WSOP and its prestige diminished. Whether or not this decision will restore the WSOP’s health remains to be seen.
