What Happens if I Surrender in Blackjack?

If you surrender in blackjack, you are giving your opponent the opportunity to double down on their bet, which means they will now be risking two additional chips instead of just one. If your opponent doubles down, you will lose two times the original bet – four chips in total.

If your opponent decides not to double down, then you will lose either four chips or the original bet, whichever is smaller.
