What Is a Poker Table Called?

Poker tables are typically rectangular, with a smooth, hardwood top and a felt or cloth tablecloth. The dimensions of a poker table can vary, but they are usually around 84″ by 48″.

There are various kinds of poker tables, including home versions that typically have smaller dimensions and portable versions that can be moved from one place to another.

The layout of the poker table is important, as it determines the number of cards that will be visible to each player at any given time. The typical layout has two rows of seven cards apiece, with the jack, queen, king, and ace in the middle.

The other four cards are placed on either side of these five. The player who first discards a card from their hand (either by putting it on the ground or flipping it over to show it is face down) becomes the new dealer.
