What Is a Round of Blackjack Called?

A round of blackjack is commonly referred to as a “hand.” The game is played with a standard 52-card deck, with one card dealt to each player. The object of the game is to achieve a hand that totals 21 or less. A hand consists of two cards, the first being face down and the second being face up.

The player must place chips on the first card and then cover the second card with their other hand. If the player’s hand totals 21 or less, they win the bet and collect the chips put on the first card. If the player’s hand totals greater than 21, they lose the bet and receive nothing.
