What Is a Shoving Range in Poker?

A shove in poker is a bet with the intent to improve one’s hand by moving all of the other players’ chips to better hands. There are two types of shoves in poker: pre-flop and post-flop.

Pre-flop shoves are made before any cards are revealed and post-flop shoves are made after all of the cards have been revealed.

Both pre- and post-flop shoves have an equal chance of succeeding. However, post-flop shoving is more likely to succeed because other players are more likely to fold cards that they don’t want in front of them.

Shoving is not always a bad thing, as it can lead to other players folding hands that they would not have otherwise folded.
