An outside bet is a wager placed on the numbered slots that do not correspond to the player’s chosen number. Outside bets are typically placed on the number 8, 16, or 20.

An outside bet is made by placing money on the slot machine that corresponds to one of the player’s chosen numbers, but with a different pay line. For example, a player might place an outside bet on slot machine number 4 with a bet of $5.
If the number 4 comes up as their chosen number, they would win their bet and the $5 would be added to their playing funds. If the player’s chosen number was not 4, they would lose their bet and the $5 would be subtracted from their playing funds.
Some casinos allow players to place multiple outside bets on different machines at the same time. This allows players to cover more bases in case one of their chosen numbers comes up.
