For example, if a player has a 2 of clubs and a 3 of clubs in their hand, they have won a hand because there are no other cards that would be equal in rank and different in suit. If there are any other cards in the hand that would be equal in rank but different in suit (for example, if the player has a 2 of clubs and a 2 of spades), then the hand would not be valid and the opponent would get to keep the cards they played in that hand.
