What Is Face Down Blackjack?

Face-down blackjack is a variation of blackjack that uses a 52-card deck. The dealer deals two hands of cards to each player, face-up. The player then sets her hand on the table such that the bottom card of her hand is exposed. The dealer then flips over the top card of the player’s hand, and this becomes the new face-up card. Play then proceeds as normal with Ace being worth 1 point, 2 through 10 being worth face value, and a Jack, Queen or King (J,Q,K) being worth 10 points. If the flipped over card is higher than the original face-up card in the player’s hand, then the player loses the hand (i.e.

, her original face-up card becomes face down again). If the flipped over card is lower than the original face-up card in the player’s hand, then the player wins (i.e., her original face-up card becomes face up again). A player can only win if she has a higher flipped over card than her original face-up card.
