What Is Stand in Blackjack?

Stand in Blackjack is a card game where the objective is to score points by playing cards to make totals of 21 or higher. The player who accumulates the most points at the end of the game wins.

To play stand in blackjack, the player must select five cards from a standard deck of 52 cards. The player then discards any card, and either lays down a card or stands (sets) if they have a total of 21 or more.

The dealer then plays one card, and the player either lays down another card, or stands if the new total is still 21 or more. If the player stands, the dealer can optionally lay down another card to try and force the player to bust.

If the player busts (plays all their cards), they earn zero points and the game ends in a loss for them. If they are still playing, the dealer then plays another card and continues this process until someone busts or all their cards have been played.

At the end of the game, whoever has accumulated the most points wins. Points are earned by making totals of 21 or more, as well as beating other players’ hands by more than their original bet.

Hands are ranked from high to low value, with low value hands being worth less points than high value hands. For example, a hand of 8-10-J would be worth as much as a hand of 10-J-Q because it has a higher rank (10 vs 8).
