In poker, the difference between call and check is very important. A call is when you put money into the pot preflop with the hope of winning something, while a check is when you don’t put any money into the pot, but instead hope to be able to call another player’s bet later.
When you make a call, you are essentially saying “I’m willing to bet this much money on this hand, and I’m confident that I can win.” On the other hand, when you make a check, you’re simply saying “I don’t have anything to put in the pot right now, but if someone else makes a bet, I’ll be happy to call it.”
There are times when you might want to make both a call and a check at the same time. This is called a “sandwich check,” and it’s usually done when you think that the other players in the hand are too weak to make good hands and will fold most of their hands anyway.
The main difference between call and check is that with a call, you’re making a bet that you’re confident will win – while with a check, you’re simply not putting any money into the pot yet. That said, there are other factors that come into play when making these decisions – such as how likely you believe it is that your opponent will actually put money into the pot.
