When playing poker, you’ll always need to know the hierarchy of poker hands. This hierarchy is based on the value of the hands and how likely they are to be used in a given situation. The following is a complete list of poker hands, and their respective hierarchy:
Royal Flush: Five cards of the same rank, like Aces high. This hand is always the best possible hand, and is almost always the most likely hand to be used.
Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank. This hand is not as good as a royal flush, but it’s still a very good hand.
Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank. This hand is not as good as a four of a kind, but it’s still a decent hand.
Two Pair: Two cards of the same rank plus another card of the same rank. This hand is not as good as a three of a kind or a four of a kind, but it’s still worth playing.
One Pair: Two cards of different ranks. This hand is not as good as any other hand, and should be avoided whenever possible.
