What Is Wager in Roulette?

Wager in roulette is a bet made by the player, either in whole or in part, on the outcome of the spin of the roulette wheel. The bet is placed on one or more particular numbers or colors and is either a Fixed Odds wager (meaning that the amount wagered is known in advance) or a Percentage wager (in which the player has no idea beforehand how much they are risking).

The basic principles behind placing a wager on roulette are simple. The player estimates what they think the chances are of one of the numbers on the wheel landing on their selected number(s). They then place a bet accordingly and hope for the best.

If their number comes up as their selected number, they win their bet and receive their predetermined payout. If, however, their number doesn’t come up as their selected number, they lose their bet and receive nothing.

The odds of any given number landing on a particular spot on the wheel are determined by how often that particular combination has occurred during all of the spins that have taken place to date. This is why it’s important to stay away from numbers that have been “hit” frequently – your odds of winning are significantly diminished.
