What’s the Difference Between a Hard 17 and a Soft 17 in Blackjack?

The difference between a hard 17 and a soft 17 in blackjack is simply the amount of money that needs to be wagered in order to achieve a winning hand. A hard 17 is when the player needs to wager at least 1.7 times the value of their hand, while a soft 17 is when the player only needs to wager 1.3 times the value of their hand.

Theoretically, this makes soft 17 hands easier to achieve, as it means that less money needs to be wagered in order to win. However, due to the fact that soft 17 hands are also more likely to bust, most players prefer to gamble with hard 17 hands instead.
