What Is a Roulette Wheel?

A roulette wheel is a simple, but intricate, spinning device used in casinos and other gambling establishments to decide the outcome of a game. It is composed of a number of small circles, each with a different number of slots. The player selects a number between 1 and 36 (36 is the most common), then places that number on one of the circles on the roulette wheel. The ball is then placed at the center of the wheel and begins its slow rotation.

As it makes its way around the wheel, it interacts with the numbers on each circle, eventually stopping at one that has been selected by the player. If this is the case, then the ball will fall into one of the slots at the bottom of that circle, and that slot will be lit up. If it isn’t, then the ball will continue to travel around the wheel and eventually fall off of it.
