How Does Roulette Pay Out Work?

What is Roulette?

Roulette is a casino game that is based on chance. The player bets on one of 36 possible numbers that will be spun around the wheel and then the number that is pulled out is the winning number.

The payout for a winning bet depends on the number that was hit and the number of bets placed.

How Does Roulette Pay Out?

When it comes to roulette, payouts are based on two things – the amount wagered and the casino’s house edge. The house edge refers to the percentage of total bet placed that goes to the house, as opposed to the player.

For example, if you place a $10 bet and the casino has a house edge of 2 percent, then only $2 of your bet will go to you – the rest will be put back into the pot and used to pay out other players. This means that for every $10 wagered at roulette, there is a 2 percent chance of winning back your original investment.
