How Many 5 Card Poker Hands Are There?

There are 52 possible 5 card poker hands. Each hand has five cards, and there are thirteen card hands in a deck. There are four suits, Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs. The rank of a card is determined by its position in the deck.

Ace is high, 2 is middle, 3 is low and 4 is low again. The rank of a card in a hand is the same as the rank of the highest card in that hand.

The first three cards in each hand are always set aside as part of the foundation or starting hand. These cards are called hole cards. The remaining four cards are used to create the final hand.

The process of creating a 5 card poker hand starts with selecting one of the hole cards as your first card and then selecting one of your other three cards to be your second card. The third card is then selected based on its position in relation to the first and second cards. .

For example, if you have a 2 and a 3 in your hand, you would select your fourth card based on whether it was higher or lower than either of your hole cards. If it was higher, you would select it as your third card and if it was lower you would select it as your fourth card.

This process continues until all five of your cards have been selected. Then you can use any combination of those five cards to create your final five card poker hand.

There are thirteen possible 5 card poker hands that can be created from the four available suits and thirteen possible rank combinations for each suit. That means that there are a total of 52 possible 5 card poker hands that can be created from a standard 52-card deck.
