How Many Cards Can a Dealer Draw in Blackjack?

There are three basic rules in blackjack: hit, stand, and double. In most cases, the dealer will draw cards until they have either two cards of the same rank, one card of a different rank, or a face card (ten, jack, queen, king).

A dealer can then discard any card to maintain the hand.

Once the dealer has drawn their last card, they will either stand if they have a blackjack (a total of 21 points or more), or double if they have two blackjacks or a ten-of-a-kind. If the dealer doubles and the player beats them, then the player is awarded their original bet plus an additional bet equal to the number of cards in the dealer’s hand.

If the dealer stands and the player loses, then they are only awarded their original bet.
