Russian roulette is a game of chance in which a player places a bet on one of several possible outcomes of a gun shot. In modern roulette, there are six possible outcomes: black, red, green, blue, ivory, and pardon. In Russian roulette, the number of guns used is not fixed – it can vary from game to game. Some casinos use as few as one or two guns, while others use as many as 18.
In any case, the odds of any given outcome are about 1 in 36. That means that for every six games played, there is about one chance in three of experiencing that outcome.
