What Are Good Blackjack Rules?

There are a few things you need to know in order to play blackjack successfully: the basic rules of blackjack, how to count cards, and good blackjack rules.

Basic Blackjack Rules

The basic rules of blackjack are simple. You must hit or stand (the option you choose is based on the number of cards you are holding) if you have an equal number of cards of each rank, and if you have an Ace, two through ten, or a Jack or Queen, you must hit.

If you have any other card, you must stand. In order to win, the dealer must have a higher hand than the player.

How to Count Cards

When playing blackjack, it is important to know how to count cards. The basic rule is to count up (one at a time) from the bottom of the deck. When counting aces, for example, start with the Ace and then continue counting up. When counting two through tens, start with the two and then continue counting up.

When counting Jacks or Queens, start with the Jack and then continue counting up. If a card is counted twice (for example, two Aces), simply add the values together (two Aces equals four).

Good Blackjack Rules

There are several important good blackjack rules that you should know in order to play optimally. First and foremost is that always stay aware of your hand size and what the other players are doing. If you are playing against someone who is constantly doubling down or splitting cards (two cards), it can be difficult to make any money playing blackjack.

Another important rule is never put all your money in one spot on the table – spread your bets around so that if one hand goes bad, you still have some money left over. Finally, always take advantage of favorable odds when they present themselves – for example, if there are only two players left in a game and one has an Eight while the other has a five-card hand including an Ace (an unfavorable situation), it is often wise to switch to another game rather than risk losing all your money on this particular hand.
