What Is an Inside Bet in Roulette?

An inside bet in roulette is a wager that places the gambler’s money on the inside number, or bet number, in a particular Roulette game. This means that if the ball falls on the inside number (between 1 and 18), the player’s bet is successful and they receive their payout.

If the ball falls on any other number, the bet fails and no payout is received.

Inside bets are popular because they offer a high potential payout, but they also carry a higher risk of losing your money. Because inside bets are placed on specific numbers, the house advantage in Roulette games is significantly higher than with other types of bets.

This means that for every bet you place that wins, the house will earn a commission (usually around 3 to 5 percent). For every bet you place that loses, your losses will be compounded (the house edge on an inside bet can be as high as 12 percent).
