What’s the Payout in Blackjack?

The payout in blackjack is the total amount of money that the player wins or loses, divided by the number of hands played. The payout for a single hand is always the sum of the cards shown, minus any accidental markers (doubles, jacks, queens, etc.). In most cases, the payoff for two hands is simply the sum of the payoffs for each hand. In some variations, such as three-hand blackjack, there are several payouts that can occur.

For example, in three-hand blackjack with a natural (10), a player could win 3 coins if they get two cards of equal rank (e.g., 2s and 10s), lose 1 coin if they get a card that doesn’t fit one of those categories (e.g., an 8 or 9), and lose 2 coins if they get a card that does fit one of those categories and another card that is also equal to or greater than the total number of points on their hand (e.g., an Ace plus a two or 3).
