What Poker Hand Beats a Straight?

In poker, there are five different types of hands: a straight, a flush, a full house, a flush, and a straight. A straight is the most common hand and consists of five cards of the same rank.

A hand with two straights is called a double straight. A hand with three straights is called a triple straight.

A hand with four cards of the same rank is called a four-of-a-kind. A hand with three cards of the same rank and one card of another rank is called a three-of-a-kind.

A hand with two cards of the same rank and two cards of another rank is called two pairs. A hand with one card of another rank and five cards of the same rank is called a one-card hand (or an open ended straight).

A flush consists of five cards that are all of the same suit. For example, if someone has an Ace of Spades in their hand, they would have a flush.

Flushes are considered better than straights because they have more combinations (five) than straights (four).

A full house consists of three cards from one suit and two cards from another suit. For example, if someone has an Ace of Hearts in their hand, they would have a full house because the Ace is from Hearts and the 2 represents Spades (two suits).

Full houses are considered better than straights because they have more combinations (three) than straights (two).
