What’s the Difference Between a Blackjack and a Sap?

A blackjack is a card game in which the player bets against the dealer. The dealer hands the player a hand of cards, face down, and the player must choose one of them to turn over. If it is an ace of spades, for example, the player would turn over the ace and keep the other two cards.

If it is any other card, the player would put it back in its place and draw another card. The objective of the game is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over.

A sap is a different kind of card game. In this game, also known as 21, players are given three cards – one face down and two face up.

The object of the game is to make as few plays as possible so that all three cards are turned over (a “sap”). Players can make any number of plays, but must turn over at least one card each time they make a play.
