No Limit Poker (NL Pot Limit Omaha) is a poker variant where the maximum bet is fixed at a certain amount, usually $1/$2. This means that each player can only put in the same amount of money, no more and no less.
The aim of the game is to make the best possible hand using only these predetermined bets.
The first thing to do is to select a seat at the table. Then, each player places their bet according to their chosen limit.
If two or more players are equal in chips, then the pot will be split evenly between them. If there are still different amounts of chips left, then the highest chipcount player will take all of the remaining money in the pot.
Once everyone has placed their bets, the hands start to come in. Each player must decide whether or not to “call” (put money into) any particular bet.
If they decide not to call, they’ll “raise” (put more money into) their bet by matching the previous call or raise made by their opponent. The process is repeated until either all players have folded or one player has won all of the chips in play.
No Limit Poker can be an extremely exciting and challenging game – especially if you’re a beginner! The fact that each hand is decided by a single bet means that there’s always potential for big payouts if you’re able to make a lucky few hands. However, it’s also important to be aware of your opponents’ tendencies – if they’re generally willing to call your raises, then it may be worth waiting until later in the hand before making your own call.
And vice versa – if your opponents are generally willing to fold instead of putting money into any given hand, then you may want to try bluffing (making an unenforceable bet with the hope that your opponent will fold instead).
